Global cooperation, resources and sustained efforts are crucial in the fight against infectious diseases.
The world faces many health threats from the continuing burden of infectious diseases like tuberculosis and malaria, as well as the resurgence of measles and the rising number of cases of dengue.
Yet there is hope that through applying the lessons we’ve learned from past outbreaks and the ongoing development of new tools to better prevent, detect, track and treat diseases, progress can be made.
That could be by looking at how to better control, eliminate or, when possible, eradicate a disease directly. And in the case of mosquito-borne diseases, targeting the mosquitoes that spread disease themselves.
